Katy Perry Responds To PETA Attack

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has lashed out at Katy Perry over the use of live critters in her "Roar" video -- but she's fighting back by claiming another animal-rights group has her back.

PETA, which is always on the prowl for perceived animal abuse, sent Katy an open letter saying, "Animals used for entertainment in film and television endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods."

But Katy has issued her own statement, saying, “American Humane Association was on set for the filming of the above referenced music video, which used an elephant, a monkey, birds and a tiger. We believe that the Guidelines for the Safe Use of Animals in Filmed Media were followed and that no animal was harmed in the making of this music video.”
