Shia LaBeouf Hires Sky Writer to Apologize for Plagiarism

Shia LaBeouf found a creative, and very public, way to apologize for plagiarizing a famous artist -- he hired a skywriting team to create a five-mile-long message over L.A. on Wednesday.

The message read, "I am sorry Daniel Clowes." Shia posted a photo of the apology on Twitter after writing, "Mr. Clowes, I can only ask that you view my apology as a stepping stone toward repairing this misunderstanding between us. I'm sorry."

The actor got in trouble in mid-December after it was learned that his short film HowardCantour.com stole parts from Clowes' 2007 graphic novella Justin M. Damiano.

The apology didn't seem to work. Clowes' publisher Eric Reynolds said, "I imagine airplane messaging is the norm in Hollywood, but someone really should have informed Mr. LaBeouf that Mr. Clowes lives in the Bay Area before he went to all that trouble."
