The Rolling Stones Confirm Tour Dates

Last month we told you that The Rolling Stones were looking to play shows in Australia, Japan and Europe in 2014. We can now confirm that the first of those is definitely happening.

The band has just announced that they'll play Adelaide, Australia on March 22nd. They'll be the entertainment opening for Adelaide Oval -- an historic stadium used mainly for cricket and Australian Rules football that's undergoing a $20-million renovation. It won't be their only show, though. The band promises that more concerts in Australia, and one in New Zealand, will be announced in the next few weeks.

Mick Jagger says in a statement that, "It’s great to be invited to Adelaide to open the historic Oval…we’re really looking forward to doing this gig, it will be the first time we’ve been to Adelaide in nearly 20 years, so see you there!”

Keith Richards adds, "Hi everyone down in Adelaide, it’s been a while since we were in your back yard… see you on March 22nd when we’ll take over your new stadium and make it our own, look forward to it."

If you're thinking about flying down, a ticket pre-sale starts Thursday at 11am Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) and goes until 6.00pm ACST on Friday, or earlier if the pre-sale allocation is exhausted. Tickets go on sale to the general public next Monday at 9 a.m. They begin at $79.
