CJ Weekdays 10am - 2pm

I’ve lived in several states like Texas, Maryland and Wisconsin but when I came out to California for college and met my husband in the Napa Valley I married him and never left!  I’m most proud of the three amazing kids I’ve managed not to screw up and I love seeing where life is taking them as they move into adulthood.  But other things that make me happy include running half-marathons, bike riding, and BBQ’s in the summer.

Then there’s this whole radio thing – I’ve had such a great time connecting with the listeners and making their day by playing a great song, sharing relatable stories about what I’ve seen, heard or read and  especially being able to tell them they’ve won a fabulous prize from one of our contests!  Every day is unpredictable and I’m thankful we can experience our days together on Napa Valley’s Sauvignon Rock.

Family Comes Together At Christmas

The kids have come home for Christmas and I couldn’t be happier!  The last few months have been ones of great transition for all of us what with two leaving home last summer.  I remember looking around the house after the youngest left in August and thinking how quiet it was.  While I had some nostalgia over the realization that my role as a mother was definitely changing I couldn’t help but be happy that they were moving into a more independent phase in life - pursuing their goals while going through the process of renting an apartment, buying their own food, learning how to pay bills and work through roommate issues.  Although life has thrown them some curves, I’ve enjoyed seeing how they’ve met their challenges with insight and grace.  Their leaving has given me more time with their Dad, and we’ve had the opportunity to take a couple of trips this Fall, with another adventure planned for in May.  My oldest left home some years ago but since Napa is his home, I have had the chance to see him more often than the other two, even though life keeps him pretty busy.  Like my family, The Napa radio stations have also undergone tremendous change this year.   I’ve loved working with the new music format on 99.3 The Vine and the all sports programming on 1440 KVON.  My hope is that I’ve been able to adapt with as much insight and grace as I’ve seen in my own kids.  Who would have thought that inspiration between parent and child could be a two-way street, and yet that’s what I see happening as I reflect over the last few months.  My guess is that I’m not alone in having that experience … and so I commend and applaud all families who may be reunited this holiday season … with the wish that those bonds will only be strengthened as we near the end of 2013.  I’m looking forward to a warm and wonderful Christmas Day and exciting new adventures both personally and professionally in the New Year!

December Is Here And I Like It

So it’s December already and I’m pretty stoked about the holiday music on 99.3 The Vine!  I know, I know … some of you may think it’s a bit of an overkill to go full time on the Christmas tunes … how many versions of “Carol of the Bells,” or “Silent Night,” are out there, after all.  But here’s the thing, as you go about this month, planning and shopping for the Big Day, you have a go to station to either get you in the mood, or help you celebrate the season.  And we have such a great mix of artists performing both new music and the classics.  You’ll find Gene Autry, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby alongside Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson and The Deadlies (ala GMB – Bob St. Laurant).  I might also point out that unlike a lot of stores … we didn’t introduce our holiday sound back in September or October, we waited until the “official” Christmas season began … the day after Thanksgiving.  At least that’s what it was when I was growing up.  So embrace the season, enjoy that holiday ambience that you’ll find every time you tune us in and blow away those Bah Humbugs by helping someone else.  We’ve got some great ideas for you on the home page under “Napa Gives.”  And by the way, the red nail polish on my thumb in the above picture came from the Beauty Store & Salon – a local business right here in Napa on Trancas … you should check it out … their store is chock-full of products to get you through the holidays and beyond.  Shop local and keep some dollars right here in the Napa Valley!
