'Magic Mike' Gets a Sequel and Heads to Broadway

What's better than hot male strippers dancing for our amusement? Hot male strippers dancing and singing for our amusement!

Yes, Magic Mike, The Musical is headed to Broadway, Channing Tatum tweeted Monday.

Per Deadline, songwriters Next to Normal's Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey will write the songs and Glee writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will pen the book (aka the play part of the production). We don't know if Tatum—the one, the only, the real Magic Mike—will be making his Broadway debut onstage, but he is confirmed as one of the show's producers.

Steven Soderbergh, who directed the 2012 original movie version of Magic Mike, is also signed on as a producer, along with Reid Carolin, Gregory Jacobs and Nick Wechsler.

But Magic Mike, The Musical isn't the only thing to get excited about. Channing confirmed in July 2012 that a movie sequel—or possibly prequel—is in the works. "We're working on the concept now," Channing told Glamour U.K., adding, "We want to flip the script and make it bigger."

Joe Manganiello and Matthew McConaughey have both hinted at their possible involvement in the film. Soderbergh told Pride Source earlier this year that work on the Magic Mike sequel was "getting pretty far along."
