Celine Dion is still beloved in her home country, where she'll accept its highest honor -- the Order of Canada. It'll happen in a ceremony today (Friday) in her native Quebec.
Dion will be named a Companion, which is the highest level of honor available to civilians from Canada. A citation from the office of the Governor General praises her as "an extraordinary ambassador for Canada" and lauds her "compassion, generosity and commitment to a number of social and humanitarian causes."
To that end, Celine has donated $100,000 to a fund benefiting those affected by the Lac-Megantic train disaster that killed 50 people in Quebec earlier this month.
