Oprah Winfrey is backtracking on her allegations that a Swiss shop wouldn't show her a handbag because it was "too expensive" for a black person.
Last night (Monday) at the Los Angles premiere for The Butler, she told TMZ, "I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland. I'm really sorry that it got blown up. I purposefully did not mention the name of the store. I'm sorry that I said it was Switzerland."
The owner of the store, a luxury shop called Trois Pommes, has claimed that a clerk didn't show Oprah the bag over a language misunderstanding that had nothing to with racism.
