Pharrell is part of Robin Thicke's battle with Marvin Gaye's estate over the hit "Blurred Lines," but he wants everyone to know that doesn't change how he feels about the late soul legend. Last night (Thursday) on the red carpet at Calvin Klein's New York Fashion Week show, Skateboard P said, "I'm a huge fan of Marvin Gaye. He is a genius. He is the patriarch."
But despite his admiration, Pharrell is adamant that he and Thicke didn't steal any elements of Gaye's hit "Got to Give It Up." "If you read music, all you have to do is read the sheet music. It's completely different... Anybody that plays music and reads music, just simply go to the piano and play the two. One's minor and one's major. And not even in the same key."
