Elton John To Receive Rockefeller Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award

Elton John's new album, The Diving Board, will debut at number-four on the Billboard 200 after selling 47,000 copies its first week in stores, according to the latest SoundScan figures. It's his second consecutive Top 5 debut and his 18th Top 10 album, 13 of which have cracked the Top 5. Eight of those albums went to number-one.

And there's another honor for Elton -- he'll receive the Rockefeller Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award for his fight against AIDS through his Elton John AIDS Foundation. He'll pick up the award on October 30th in Washington, D.C. Elton says, “It is an honor to receive this award from the Rockefeller Foundation, an organization that has been at the forefront of leveraging innovation, in all its forms, to promote the well-being of humanity around the world." The Rockefeller Foundation will also make a grant to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
