Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson admitted in court today (Wednesday) that she's used cocaine in the past but denies being an addict.
"People who do that are a lot thinner than I am," she said. "I've never been a habitual user. There are two times in my life when I have used cocaine."
She took the stand in the case against Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo, who've been charged with defrauding Nigella's ex-husband Charles Saatchi. The Grillo sisters allege that Nigella let them use her husband's credit card in exchange for their silence about her drug problem.
The TV chef also spoke about the incident from this summer when Charles was photographed with his hands around her throat. She claimed it happened after she saw a passerby with a baby and then commented on her desire to have grandchildren. She said, "He grabbed me by the throat and said, 'I'm the only person you should be concerned with.'"
She added, "He told everyone that he was taking cocaine out of my nose at Scott's when he knows that is a lie."
