Steven Spielberg Named 'Forbes' Most Influential Celebrity

Steven Spielberg has not released a new film in 2014, but he tops Forbes' 2014 list of the Most Influential Celebrities in America.

The magazine credits the director's "amazing storytelling abilities" for his top spot among a tremendous group of A-listers. Spielberg's most recent movie, the critically acclaimed drama Lincoln, earned 12 Oscar nominations—and 2 wins—and raked in a cool $275 million worldwide at the box office.

The magazine ranks celebrities based on E-Poll Market Research surveys, which ask Americans about celebrities' likeability traits and personality attributes.

Spielberg earned a 47 for influence, meaning 47 percent of the population thinks he is influential.

Oprah Winfrey, who took the esteemed title the past two years, slipped to the No.2 spot and received a score of 45 percent. The OWN founder's score last year was 49 percent and the decline could be attributed to her stepping out of the public eye and focusing on behind-the-scenes work for her cable network.

Three other famous filmmakers made the top five:George Lucas took the third spot, Ron Howardsnagged fourth and Martin Scorsese came in fifth place.

Round out the top 10 are Dr. Oz (6), Barbara Walters(7), Bono (8), Stan Lee (9) and Rush Limbaugh (10).
