Guy Fieri Car Thief Sentenced to Life In Prison

The teenager convicted of stealing Guy Fieri's yellow Lamborghini won't be seeing the inside of a diner, drive-in or dive until he's almost 40 years old.

Max Wade, 19, was sentenced yesterday to 21 years to life in prison after being convicted in October of swiping the Food Network star's $200,000 sports car and attempted murder for firing a gun at a teenage couple during a roadside ambush in Mill Valley, Calif., in April 2012.

Per the Marin Independent Journal, after Wade was identified as a suspect in the shooting, investigators found a storage locker he had rented that, in addition to burglary equipment and fake IDs, was housing Fieri's missing $200,000 sports car, which he had reported stolen in 2011.

Wade will reportedly have to spend at least 18 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.

"I'm just happy that it's done," Fieri told reporters in October after testifying for the prosecution. "I missed the car, it was a great car. But move on."

"It's been a really crazy story," said the celeb chef and restaurateur, who in addition to Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on Food Network also hosts Guys Grocery Games and stars on Rachel vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off.

Charles Dresow, Wade's attorney, argued that a possible life sentence was a "cruel and unusual punishment" considering his client's age, but prosecutor Yvette Martinez-Shaw fired back that it the tough sentence was "mandatory and...also warranted."

Wade was convicted of trying to kill Landon Wahlstrom by opening fire on the pickup truck he was driving back in 2012, but was acquitted of the attempted murder of Wahlstrom's girlfriend, Eva Dedier, who was with him. Prosecutors said Wade had previously supplied the couple with fake IDs and he liked Dedier and was jealous of Wahlstrom.
