Anita Baker has filed her own lawsuit against the home-renovation company that's had her in court for months -- and nearly got her arrested last month.
Baker's attorney says lawyers for Ray A. Smith Painting and Decorating have tried to embarrass and defame her with a series of lawsuits that led to a warrant for her arrest -- which was quickly withdrawn. The company claims that Baker owes $15,000 for renovations to her suburban Detroit home, but she insists she was unaware of any court action against her.
The suit against Baker returns to court on Friday. There's no word yet on when her countersuit will be heard.
