Justin Bieber is hot water with his Chinese fans.
While in Japan, Bieber posted a picture on Instagram of himself in front of a shrine with the caption, "Thank your for your blessings." What he quickly found out is that the Yasukuni Shrine honors former military leaders from Japan's imperial army who committed war atrocities in China during World War Two. The shrine has been a source of tension between the two countries for many years.
Bieber pulled the picture down and then posted a screengrab of Time magazine's post about the story. He wrote, "While in Japan, I asked my driver to pull over for which I saw a beautiful shrine. I was misled to think the shrines were only a place of prayer. To anyone I have offended, I am extremely sorry. I love you China, and I love you Japan."
