NBC Won't Air Disastrous World Music Awards Show

It sounds like the show won't go on for the sketchy World Music Awards -- since NBC has decided not to air the disastrous ceremony, which was taped last month in Monte Carlo.

The network had a contract to air the show on May 28th, one day after it took place, but the ceremony ran more than four hours late -- thanks to honoree Mariah Carey's late appearance and no-shows by a number of scheduled performers. A few days before that, scheduled host Sharon Stone bailed because she hadn't been paid.

The New York Daily News reports that NBC initially delayed the broadcast, but still hasn't received an edited tape that can fit into the two-hour time slot allotted for the show. An insider tells the paper, “It’s already caused too many problems and too much embarrassment. They’ve lost their patience with the whole thing. The WMA team are desperately doing everything they can to convince NBC execs to air it, but the chances are looking bleak."
