Sharpie - Napa News

I picked up the nickname "Sharpie" years ago when I worked at KISW in Seattle, Wa. Afternoon DJ Gary Crow was a fan of the TV show "CPO Sharkey". My last name was Sharp, so Gary dubbed me CPO Sharpie and finally just Sharpie. It stuck.

When I am not acting as General Manager of KVYN/KVON I do the Napa Valley News. I try to give you a quick update every hour during weekdays about what is going on in the Napa Valley. If you have news you would like to share, please email me at larry@winecountrybroadcasting.com

I also do a couple of weekend DJ shows. It is a lot of fun to be on the air at KVYN and I thank you for listening!

I hope all you Dad's out there had a great day on Father's Day. I spent the weekend with a bunch of other Dads camping, fishing and genarally having a great time. Best of all, I got a call from my oldest son Jerry who is working for Cal-fire up in Ft. Bragg. Then my other son Jeff came over with beer and cookies. What a good kid.

I talked to my Dad on the phone as well, completing the fatherly cycle. I am lucky to have two great sons and to still have my Dad around. My best to all the Dad's out there!

I thoroughly enjoyed this year's Bottlerock. There wasn't a single band on the schedule that I felt like I had to see, but there were quite a few I wanted to check out. I really enjoyed Smashmouth, Blues Traveler, Robert Earl Keen, Spin Doctors, Barenaked Ladies, The Stone Foxes, The Sorry Lot, Michael Thomason Band and of course The Deadlies.

This year's layout was much better I thought. The food court was very cool and it seemed easier to move around the festival. I'm sure the new organizers have learned a thing or two. Smashmouth should have been at the Sprint Stage and Robert Earl Keen should have been at the smaller Miner stage.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth and spun the wheel. It was great to see all of you. Looking forward to next year's spectacular line-up!
