WINE COUNTRY BROADCASTING COMPANY’S ANNUAL
EEO PUBLIC FILE REPORT
August 2012

This report covers the period from August 2011 through July 2012.

KVON-AM and KVYN-FM are both owned by Wine Country Broadcasting Company and share at least one common employee.  Therefore, they have been treated as a single station employment unit for the purposes of this report.

INTERNAL RECORD KEEPING – POSITIONS FILLED
There were no full-time positions posted and/or filled during the period of August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012 for KVON-AM or KVYN FM.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL RECRUITMENT MEASURES
Both KVON and KVYN run on-air ads for any full-time job opportunities.  A Job Opportunities page is included on our web site for listing all openings at the station.  Wine Country Broadcasting has developed a distribution list to alert specific organizations of job opportunities at the stations and encourages any interested organizations to notify us by mail, fax or e-mail to elaine@winecountrybroadcasting.com if interested in being added to our list.

LONG TERM RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES
Wine Country Broadcasting is committed to performing long-term EEO recruitments set forth in the FCC’s EEO rules.  From August 2011 – July 2012 Wine Country Broadcasting participated in the following long-term recruitment initiatives:

 

Employee Development
Wine Country Broadcasting has a policy of promoting from within.  To that end we support employees who want to acquire skills that could qualify them for higher level positions.  The Leadership Napa Valley is a 9 month program supported by the Napa Chamber of Commerce which is designed to teach participants Leadership skills, teamwork and community awareness.  It is recognized as one of the best leadership training experiences in the country. Wine Country Broadcasting encourages interested employees to apply for this program and if selected, funds their tuition.  No employees participated in this program this reporting year.

 

Internships
Wine Country Broadcasting has established an internship program for local high school and college students.

During the period of August 2011 through July 2012, Wine Country Broadcasting had one intern, Jessica Yee from the University of Riverside.

 

Scholarship Program
Wine Country Broadcasting participates in the California Broadcasters Foundation Intern Scholarship program through membership in the California Broadcasters Association.  The Foundation awards two $500 scholarships to radio interns and two $500 scholarships to television interns each semester.

 

SELF ASSESSMENT
Wine Country Broadcasting regularly reviews outreach efforts and evaluates effectiveness in an effort to improve equal opportunity employment and recruitment.
