Last weekend brought sunny skies, warm temperatures, Valentine’s Day and President’s day all wrapped up in what was a fabulous time with me and my one true love. I made lemon poppyseed jumbo muffins and poached eggs for breakfast. We hiked around Lake Natomas near the Nimbus Fish Hatchery East of Sacramento. We enjoyed a quiet mid afternoon lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Rancho Cordova. That was our Saturday. On Sunday my husband took me to a fun, hometown breakfast spot in downtown Sacramento – the Pancake Circus. And in the afternoon we enjoyed our first BBQ of the seaon on our back patio. Yes, vegetarians can have a great BBQ … you probably recognize the asperagus, and on the left we roasted up some soy based chik’n. It’s pretty good when smothered in BBQ sauce! I know we desparately need rain in California, but boy was it great to have the first BBQ of the season in mid February!
