Being a professional esthetician means you have to be ready for anything when it comes to waxing – dry, hairy, bumpy, sweaty, scared, nervous, and demanding clients. We all have insecurities and we all just want to be taken care of.

Sanitation: A shower prior to your appointment is best to ensure the wax grabs the hair properly. For smaller waxing areas, you can simply use wipes. Be sure not to apply any moisturizer to the areas you’re about to wax, as dry skin helps allow for a better quality wax experience.

Hair Length: A good length is ¼ to ½ of an inch. If the hair is too short its difficult to get all the hair and results in tweezing. If the hair is too long it gets messy and painful, so be sure to use a clipper with a guard prior to your appointment. Be mindful of your waxing schedule.

Period Etiquette: Very natural. And life does not need to stop during the monthly event, although it is a bit more painful during this time since the area becomes more sensitive. Just give us a head’s up so we are more careful with wax application as to avoid any messiness.

Caveman Back: Men’s back waxing is practically the same as waxing any other area. Doing it regularly allows the hair to grow back thinner, whereas shaving will grow back much thicker. Plus, it’s nearly impossible to shave your back every few days unless you have limber arms.

Nether Regions: It has become more common for all to wax regularly. The key here is being proactive as a client, to minimize waxing pain by exfoliating the area first. This sloughs off the layers of dead skin cells that can likely trap hairs under the skin’s surface. This allows the hair to come to the surface, for a better waxing result overall.

Go forth and be hairless.
