Great idea – bootcamp workouts followed by beer!

You don’t have to say goodbye for the summer. There’s a way to conjure the tastes and smells of a season on its way out.

It’s by the sip, the gulp, the glass or the can.

A group of four beer lovers — female beer enthusiasts — spent a firefly-lit night drinking brews in a search of the perfect combination of hops, barley, water and yeast that might take us from this season into the next.

We looked for beers that would remind us of this same hot night, even as the leaves turn and the football tailgates begin.

Spencer McCoy, beer guru at Ray’s Wine & Spirits in Wauwatosa, helped with the selection. We referenced the list of beers that he enjoyed this summer as our starting point.

The beers included: Happy Place from Third Space Brewing; Fresh Coast, a pale ale from 3 Sheeps in Sheboygan; Rosa Hibiscus Ale from Revolution Brewing; Dr. Vennum IPA from Ale Asylum; and Clutch Cargo, a double IPA from Lakefront Brewery.
