Q: How did you get interested in wine and the wine industry?

I became interested in wine while living in New York City after college. I was working at a hospital, biding my time before I went to medical school, and what started as a hobby became an obsession. I began to go to every tasting I could, read everything about wine I could get my hands on and suddenly I was sending my application to the graduate program at Davis in Enology. I was fortunate my science background made this leap achievable and UC Davis became my next home. While I was a graduate student at Davis, I was an intern at Chimney Rock Winery where I have now been working for 15 years. My dream was to make great Cabernet Sauvignon so I couldn’t have landed in a more perfect place.
